Amazing Race: Rules
By now, I assume everyone's pretty much up to speed on how the scoring is working in these pools. The Amazing Race is no exception:
Everyone would ordinarily start with 1,000 points. However, I've decided to slightly handicap returning players based on how well they did last season, when Paul won the title of Amazing Race Genius, while Kim became the unenviable Amazing Race Dunce. Here are our starting totals:
1st: Kim 1004
2nd: Carl 1002
3rd: Mom 1000
3rd: Mike 1000
3rd: Jennifer 1000
3rd: Dawn 1000
7th: Matt 998
8th: Paul 996
Your score is affected in the following ways:
If a team is eliminated in exactly the placement you predicted, you gain 50 points. So, if you predict Aja and Ty to finish in 7th, and they actually do, you get +50.
If a team is eliminated in a place other than the one you predicted, you lose points. The further off you are, the more points you lose. If you predict Aja and Ty to finish in 7th, and they finish in 8th, you lose only 10 points (1 spot off, x 10). If they finish in 3rd, you lose 40 points (4 spots off, x 10).
There are also bonus points for predicting the Fastest Team (FT) in any given week. This is the team that comes in first in that week's episode. You can submit a fresh FT pick every week, or put in a standing order for either a particular team, or for the previous team's winner. There are a total of 40 bonus points awarded each week, divided among those who correctly picked the FT. If no one picked the team that came in first, then the second place team is considered FT for purposes of the pool. The FT bonus point schedule is as follows:
1 person picks FT = 40 points
2 people = 20 points
3 people = 16 points
4 people = 13 points
5 people = 10 points
6 people = 8 points
7 people = 6 points
8 people = 5 points
At the end of the season, there will be a chance to predict the final finishing order of the final 2 teams to earn additional bonus points.
That's it! Good luck, everyone.
