DWTS: Week 10 Performance Results

This week's scores:

Kristi: 30 + 30 = 60
Cristian: 26 + 26 = 52
Jason: 27 + 24 = 51

The judges finally unleashed a flurry of 10s to wrap up the season, but unfortunately for Cristian and Jason, only Kristi was the lucky recipient. Considering that the stars had an entire week to learn 1.33 routines, I was severely underwhelmed by the much-vaunted freestyle competition.

The scoring seemed to be a little prejudiced in Kristi's favor, and while she has been the strongest dancer all season, I don't know that tonight's performance lived up to her precedent.

All three stars took 1/3 of the cha cha song on, and Kristi rightfully won out there. But I thought her freestyle was a little awkward, and in no way deserved the perfect score it got from the judges.

On the other hand, I thought Cristian's finale performance was great, but Len explicitly marked it down because the lifts weren't that spectacular. To me, the lifts have to fit seamlessly into the performance, and only Cristian achieved that. Jason and Kristi each came out with a faux-hiphop routine that looked more like a disjointed acrobatics show than a dance. I would have thought that traditionalist Len would back me up on that, but no dice.

Standings

1st: Matt 1033 (+8)
2nd: Lisa 1002 (+8)
3rd: Kim 950 (+0)
4th: Dawn 932 (+8)
5th: Carl 859 (+8)
6th: Mom 848 (+0)
7th: Paul 740 (+8)

As happened last week, the standings remain unchanged, with Mom and Kim slipping slightly as compared to the rest of us.

Tomorrow's finale will be the most pointeriffic ever in terms of the pool, so expect to see a major shakeup in the standings.
