DWTS Standings: Week 3

More wacky hijinks by the DWTS crowd, including an April Fool's spoof in which the stars revealed an interesting hobby. Kristi said she was a competitive eater, Steve claimed to be a freestyle rapper, Jason said he liked to build ships in a bottle, etc. It was pretty funny, but still not as funny as Adam's schtick, which is never ending and always entertaining. Tonight, he urged Marissa to kick Kristi's ass.

Other entertainments included a couple of songs by Kylie Minogue, and the first ever man-on-man encore performance, in which Steve danced with Jonathan (his partner Anna is Jonathan's wife).

The big news of the night came early, when host Tom Bergeron revealed that low-scorer Marissa was safe. That means that she picked up more votes than Steve, who was ousted despite his hammy appeal as the nicest guy around. Since Steve was one of the four stars in the 21-point tie, this means that he got fewer votes than Marissa, Mario, Marlee and Adam. I thought that was a little surprising. We've seen a lot of very slow careers pick up after a stint on Dancing With the Stars, so let's all hope that Steve's phone is ringing with non Police Academy-related offers over the coming months.

What does Steve's elimination mean for the pool?

Standings

1st: Dawn 1040 (-20)
2nd: Mom 998 (-10)
3rd: Lisa 970 (-40)
4th: Carl 961 (-20)
4th: Matt 961 (-10)
6th: Kim 906 (-50)
7th: Paul 878 (-60)

Generally speaking, this was a good week for Dawn, Carl, Mom, and I, all of whom had pegged "The Gute" as an early ouster. Dawn dropped a few points, but not enough to threaten her status as pool leader. Mom recaptured second place from Lisa, and I pulled into a tie for fourth with Carl.

The losers this week were Lisa, Kim, and Paul, all of whom had a little more faith in Steve's charm and abilities. Paul was hit the hardest, having predicted Steve to go all the way to fourth place, and he really needs a good week next week to get out of the cellar. Lisa had a strong enough place in the standings that her bad week didn't cost her much, although she now has Carl and I nipping at her heels. Kim had her second rough week in a row, which put her closer to the bottom of the pool than the top.

Be sure that you send me your Best Score Prediction for next week. Good luck, everyone!
