Survivor Results: Week 2
Week two in Micronesia proved to be pretty entertaining. After a virtual blackout last week, we got to see a clear picture of the power dynamic among the Fan tribe-- but we'll still be kept guessing next week, as things seems very unstable, to say the least. Kathy, Tracy, and Chet seemed to be firmly on the outs, but Joel got a bug up his ass about taking orders from Mikey B., leading to a revolt that fell on Mary's shoulders (to be fair, her shoulders were probably already weakened from holding up her enormous, fake boobs).
To me, the episode demonstrated once and for all that these are not really fans of the game. The willingness of the three older tribe members to split off from the super-majority of seven was terrible strategy. Joel admitted that he couldn't follow Mikey's voting contingency plan without getting confused. And Mary knew that Joel was walking around talking to everyone but her and Mikey B., and yet seemed completely surprised when the vote turned sour for her. Kathleen didn't even seem to know who Cirie was. Fans they may be, but good players? Hardly.
Highlights:
-- Ozzy kicking ass at the challenge, living up to his legacy in a way few returning survivors have in other seasons
-- Cirie recounting the "jungle love" going on in the shelter, and her horror at having to recross the ocean multiple times from Exile Island. She also shone this episode, managing to show not the slightest irritation at spending a night alone with Kathleen, who is seemingly one of the most irritating Survivors ever
-- the high-handed Chet being completely undone during the challenge, when he apparently volunteered to take on the most physical role of the challenge rather than signing up as keymaster or puzzler
On to the pool!
This Week's Standings:
Matt: 109 (+3)
Dawn: 99 (+2)
Kim: 88 (0)
Carl: 87 (-8)
Paul: 85 (-8)
It seems that Lisa and Rick will not be joining us after all. Dawn, Kim and I correctly predicted that the Favorites would win immunity, and so we each received 4 bonus points.
I stayed on top of the pool, and even padded my lead, as I had Mary going out in 18th place.
Dawn maintained second place in the standings, helped by the fact that she had pegged Mary to go out in 17th place.
Kim jumped two places in the standings to third place. Her four bonus points counteracted her elimination pick, and so she stood still while...
Carl and Paul plummeted to the bottom of the pool, having both picked the Fans to win immunity, and Mary to last until 11th place. They're in a dogfight with Kim for third, while Dawn and I are looking to stay on top.
