Amazing Race Standings: Week 5

1. Paul: 997 (+2)
2. Matt: 852 (+37)
3. Carl: 760 (-1)
4. Dawn: 753 (-57)
5. Kim: 618 (-34)

Back to the usual for The Amazing Race, namely lots of bad blood between teams, and even worse blood between a couple of pairs of partners. Can you believe Ryan Seacrest's ex girlfriend is such a raving bitch? Me neither. The letter-delivering Roadblock was pretty boring. It consisted of people running around and asking for directions, which is, like, the entire show. The Detour was great, though, providing a difficult choice between two very different tasks, each one of which had the potential of really screwing a team up.

I knew we would all have a chance to catch up with Paul in the pool, and this week was our chance. His FPF pick, Hendekea and Azaria actually came in the bottom half of the racers, which meant that all we had to do was pick one of the top three teams to come in first. But did we do that? No! Since no one picked any of those teams, Paul split the 60 point bonus with Carl, and continued to hang around the 1000 point mark.

It was a great week for me, since I had Shana and Jennifer picked to go, netting me a 50 point bonus. But my happiness is tempered by the fact that I could have gained another 90 points on him if only I had stuck with Kynt and Vyxsin or TK and Rachael, both of whose calm, cool, and collected attitude served them well in this week's tasks.

Carl climbed in the rankings to overtake Dawn, mostly because he, like Paul, chose Hendekea and Azaria for first. He lost only one point, and can at least think about climbing into second or first.

Dawn did the worst this week, and her 57 point lost cost her in the standings. Last week, she was virtually tied for second, but this week she slid into fourth. This was mainly because she had Shana and Jennifer picked to go all the way to third place, so their exit at 7 cost her 40 points (most people accurately placed them in the middle of the pack).

Kim's story remains the same as last time-- she had a so-so week, with her 34 point loss bringing her closer to Dawn, but she's so far back that no one should be too worried just yet.

Next week should be less eventful-- only Dawn and I are eligible for elimination bonuses, and that only if Kynt and Vyxsin or Jennifer and Nathan go, neither of which seems very likely.

Death to Paul!
